Queen's Phenomenal Song
Never fade!. That's perhaps the comment for the legend of Rock Queen Music. Known for their rock ballads, Queen has succeeded in creating phenomenal musical works that entertain and inspire rock music lovers worldwide to this day.
Here I will not explain at length about this band, because it seems as if they are just copying it, moreover, there is already a lot of information on the internet that discusses various versions, especially Wikipedia, which contains detailed information about this legendary band.
What I want to discuss is their most phenomenal work. Even though many have judged from their respective perspectives, the pros and cons will always be there. Moreover, this is a matter of taste.
Well, so do I personally want to list queen songs with the most phenomenal methods or the ones we hear most often, and of course very identical to the popularity of the band itself. Here's Queen's Phenomenal Song.
1. Bohemian Rhapsody (1977)
Bohemian Rhapsody was part of a pure origin that took rock and pop off the rails. The roughly six-minute long, which Mercury wrote for the album A Night At The Opera, is a masterpiece of modern music.
The brilliant video for the song, with interesting multi-angle shots, was directed by Bruce Gowers.
It is the only song to reach the No. 1 Christmas chart twice. It first topped the Christmas charts in 1975 and got there again 16 years later, after Mercury's death.
More than 2.6 million examples have been purchased since 1977, and in December 2018 it was officially recognized as the most streamed song of the 20th century.
2. We Will Rock You (1977)
“We Will Rock You" has become a cultural landmark like the national anthem. Taken from the album News Of The World, the song was released together as a double-A-side single, reaching No.2 in the UK and No.4 in the US.
In 2000, the song was covered by boy band 5ive, featuring guests Brian May on guitar and Roger Taylor on drums, and climbed to No. 1.
3. I Want To Break Free (1984)
Pop single John Deacon who wrote "I Want To Break Free" was caught up in controversy surrounding its promotional video.
All the band members were dressed in drag for the clip, a concept proposed by Taylor to parody the long-running British television series Coronation Street. May said they were exposed to unexpected backlash in the US including MTV banning the video.
However, this song is one that has contributed greatly to Queen's popularity in music especially in Japan and Asia as a whole.
4. We Are The Champions (1977)
From his 1977 album News Of The World, is one of rock's most recognizable songs, even being voted the world's favorite song of 2005.
It is sung regularly by sports fans and was also the official theme song for the 1994 World Cup. "We Are The Champions" is meant to be 'we', as in 'all of us', collectively, not us as a band.
The video for the song was shot at a theater on Drury Lane in London, with over a thousand crowds of Queen's club fans over 50 sets.
5. Somebody To Love (1976)
A song that demonstrates Queen's ability to deliver soulful, gospel-flavored pop music.
Mercury's lyrics, about a search for spiritual salvation and redemption, were the ideal opening single from A Day At The Races and shot to No. 2 on the charts.
Mercury's tribute to soul music legend Aretha Franklin was the main inspiration behind the song.
6. Don’t Stop Me Now (1979)
The lavish "Don't Stop Me Now" showcased Mercury's versatility and skill as a vocalist. The song written for the Jazz album became a Top 10 hit in 1979.
The album was recorded in France, where Mercury enjoyed a social life. The song shows a confident frontman having fun singing his uplifting lyrics.
"They call me Mister Fahrenheit / I travel at the speed of light." The song is a celebration of Mercury's unfettered search for pleasure.
7. I Want It All (1989)
Brian May wrote the song after his marriage broke up and was in a relationship with actress Anita Dobson when he wrote "I Want It All" in 1989.
East Enders star Dobson used to say, "I want it all and I want it now," and May wrote a powerful song around those words.
The song was later considered to satirize the world at that time, seemingly capturing the greed and ambition of some parts of the country in the 80s.
May sang and duet with Mercury, and his lyrics, such as "I'm a man with a one-track mind/So much to do in one lifetime", touched the hearts of the public. The song reached No.3 on the UK charts.
8. Killer Queen (1974)
A flamboyant song about high-class prostitutes, "Killer Queen" appeared on the album Sheer Heart Attack and showcased Queen's uncanny ability to create highly harmonic music.
The single reached No. 2 in October 1974 and gave Queen their first US hit. The song had all of the energy that made Queen famous while marking a "turning point" in finding the sound the band wanted.
The song has a multi-layered guitar section that includes 12 overdubs, and contains one of Brian Mei's finest guitar solos.
9. Under Pressure (1981)
This great duet featuring Freddie Mercury and David Bowie evolved during an impromptu time session at Mountain Studios in Montreux, Switzerland.
Mercury and Bowie teased each other about whose vocals were the loudest. Deacon delivers throbbing basslines and the spontaneity, including Mercury's singing, is infectious.
The incredible pop song went No. 1 in the UK, and it became the basis for another indelible hit, Vanilla Ice's "Ice Ice Baby". Bowie did it at the Mercury tribute concert in 1992.
10. One Vision (1986)
Among the mainstays on the album ''A Kind Of Magic'' are the title tracks "Who Wants To Live Forever" and "Friends Will Be Friends".
But what marked the album's return to form was "One Vision," which overflowed with confidence and demonstrated the band's newfound unity after their Live Aid win in July 1985. "One Vision" peaked at No.7 in the UK charts.
In 1995 the final Queen album was released, entitled 'Made in Heaven' and featuring vocals from Freddie Mercury's 1991 recording, material left over from previous albums and reworked material from May, Taylor and Mercury's solo album.
Queen received the Global Icon award at the 2011 MTV Europe music awards and are still active with various events and collaborations with well-known artists to this day.
